The Uganda Grand Tour : 11 Days


Visit tranquil Lake Mburo National Park with its glorious landscape, South Western Uganda’s dense forests and lakes, Queen Elizabeth National Park’s unique location and diversity, Kibale’s enormous primate population and the awesome Murchison Falls on the Victoria Nile.

DAY 1
We’ll leave Kampala after breakfast for the journey to Lake Mburo National Park. The lovely landscape is complemented by Lake Mburo itself and four small lakes, beautiful and tranquil surroundings where you will see impala, eland, clipspriger, waterbuck, zebra and buffalo. After a picnic, lunch we’ll take a canoe trip in the afternoon to see a variety of water birds, your guide will give you a safe distance from the hippos and crocodiles! Dinner and overnight at Mihingo Lodge.


DAY 2
After a substantial breakfast, we’ll leave Lake Mburo and make the scenic journey to south Western Uganda and the
stunning volcanic scenery of the Virunga Mountains. En route, we’ll visit Lake Bunyonyi, a famous beauty spot.
Dinner and overnight at Bushara Island on Lake Bunyonyi.

DAY 3
Morning and lunch on Lake Bunyonyi, including a canoe ride round the myriad of islands, after lunch depart for Bwindi with a choice of accommodation including the Buhoma Homestead or at the Gorilla Forest Luxury Camp.


DAY 4
Gorilla tracking. This takes a full day depending on where the gorilla will befound Dinner and overnight.

DAY 5
After a substantial breakfast, we’ll travel on to Queen Elizabeth National Park for lunch and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge or Jacana Lodge, both high quality lodge, accommodation, all rooms with private facilities. This afternoon, we’ll take the launch trip to explore the Kazinga Channel, here we’ll see the scores of hippos, buffalo close
to the waterside often elephants and the rare leopard prowling . The birdlife on the water is fascinating and abundant Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge.

DAY 6
After a substantial breakfast, we’ll take a morning game drive in the park .Look out for the prides of Lions and herds of elephant.Buffalo,bushbuck and kob are quite common here but not so common is the spectacular and elusive Giant Forest Hog and a sighting is a real triumph!
In the afternoon we’ll visit yet another of the diverse local habitats and take a walk in the Maramagambo Forest, here we’ll look for chimpanzee and other monkeys and visits the bat caves and the outstanding blue lake. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari lodge.


DAY 7
After breakfast, we’ll take a tour to Queen Elizabeth’s extraordinarily scenic crater lakes area. Mirror –surfaced and tranquil, each has its own individual character providing a home for a myriad of creatures travelling on the Fort Portal tea estate area for dinner and overnight at Mountain of the moon Lodge.

DAY 8
Today, we’ll visit kibale Forest of home to an astonishing 12 species of primate and provides one of the highest primate
densities in the world. Here, on our guided forest walk, we may find families of chimps and red colobus monkeys chattering and swinging through the ancient forest trees. And the birdlife is no less impressive! During the day we’ll visit Bigodi Swamp for its rare and beautiful flora and fauna and encounter a successful community tourism project dinner and overnight at Mountain of the moon Lodge.

DAY 9
After a substantial breakfast ,we’ll leave for the journey to Murchison Falls National Park. Arriving at Paraa ,we’ll take the ferry either to the Paraa Safari lodge or to Nile Safari Camp .Both lodges offer quality accommodation in beautifully
designed Nile side log cabins .The Safari is more luxurious [marble bathrooms] and with extensive facilities .Both are highly commendable. Relaxing dinner and overnight.

DAY 10
After a Substantial breakfast, we’ll make the amazing launch trip to the Murchison Falls, Regent’s Park Zoo and Kew Gardens combined. We’ll pass pods of hippo, crocs, vast numbers of exotic birds and butterflies, [in Murchison, there are over 300 varieties] and myriad wildlife coming to the water to drink [often including herds of elephants]. We’ll maybe see the legendary shoebill stork.


The fall itself is one of Africa’s wonders-the whole of the Victoria Nile bursting majestically through a six meter gap to an awesome forty metre drop. In the afternoon ,we’ll experience our first scenic game drive in the park.
Our ranger will help us to view the extraordinary variety of wildlife living ,including Uganda kob ,elephants ,lion, giraffe, antelope, a vast variety of eagles and much more. Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari lodge.

 



DAY 11
After breakfast, we’ll leave our lodge to travel on to Kampala. En rout, we’ll view the awesome falls from another angel the top. We’ll have the opportunity to experience this massive rush of water at close quarters by taking the pathway to the base of the falls and back. We shall be arriving late in the afternoon for dinner and overnight at Grand imperial hotel in Kampala.

In case you are 4 people the cost will be USD 3388 per person for a minimum of 2 people sharing a room. In case you are 6 people the cost will be USD 3226 per person for a minimum of 2 people sharing a room.
