Bwindi National Park.

This is an ancient rain forest one of the few in Africa to have survived thought the last ice age. It lays at an altitude between 1160 – 2607 m above sea level. The park covers
331sq.km and is located In the south western part of the country. It is about 9 hours drive from Kampala.

Bwindi is a home to the gentle giants the mountain Gorillas. The park has also 90 mammal species including 11 primates, the bird life here ranks among the best with 23 species localized Albertan rift endemic.

Other than Gorilla trekking, you can for a few hours become part of the Batwa community by taking part in the village walk. On the way make a sure you visit the local handcraft shops, you can walk away with cures for illness by visiting the traditional medicinal healers.
