CHIMPS ON NGAMBA ISLAND 2 DAYS
Day 1 TRANSFER TO ENTEBBE L. VICTORIA
You will be picked up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe by our guide who will transfer you to UWEC ( Uganda Wildlife Education Centre ) previously the zoo for an excursion to Ngamba Island in Mukono. On arrival at the stating point in Entebbe, you will be briefed about your boat trip to Ngamba Island. Depending on which boat type you will use, it will take you about 45 minutes – 1 hour across to Ngamba Island in Mukono District, You will cross the Equator En route as the guide gives explanation on how they got to know that it is the Equator. On arrival at the island, home to 39 orphaned chimpanzees, the site care takers and PR officers will brief you about the sanctuary. After, its feeding time! It is charming to observe the chimps interact with each other and while their keepers throw food to them. As you watch the chimpanzees feeding, you will be able to recognize the various behaviors of the feeding chimpanzees as they are 90% close to man, with some whistling for food, others clapping while others will be fighting to collect as more food as their hands can grab to keep for their young ones.. Dinner and overnight at G and C Camps Ngamba Island. (FB)
Day 2 CHIMPANZEE WALK NGAMBA ISLAND
For those who have had their requisite set of medical requirements checked and acknowledged, a forest walk with the chimps is an inimitable event! The Uganda safari Forest Walk proffers you an opportunity to join a group of infant chimpanzees on an hour’s walk through their forest habitat, either in the late afternoon or very early morning. A limit of four visitors is allowed in the forest for each walk, always accompanied by trained CSWCT staff for your safety and enjoyment. You will be in the company of several chimpanzees varying in age where you will have direct contact with them and therefore be given very specific instructions regarding clothing, glasses, cameras, and behavior when signing up for this unique opportunity as these chimpanzees are used to human contact they will play-bite, climb on you, grab your glasses, and pull your hair or even just your hand for a walk- how interesting! Fun just begins! This opportunity is only a short-term one and indeed a privilege while the juvenile group of chimpanzees is manageable with the general public. Depending on how controllable the chimps are, there is no guarantee on how long this activity will go on for, and it may be curtailed any time. After you will be transferred back to the shores of L. Victoria from where our driver guide will pick you up to take you to the airport for your flight back home.
