Welcome to the land of a thousand hills and smiles, your guide will be at the airport ready to pick up. A brief introduction about Rwanda’s climate, culture, people, economy and later a detailed briefing about your safari itinerary.

Drive to the Hotel and check in.  Have a quick freshen up and get ready for lunch at one of Rwanda’s best restaurant with a traditional buffer.

Day 1: KIGALI

1:00PM Start a city tour and get to explore the historical sites and places in Kigali including the museums and later check out the old and new Kigali.

4:00PM Drive back to the hotel and relax your nerves as you prepare for tomorrow’s experience.

7:00PM Dinner at the HOTEL

Accommodation: Preferred hotel

Optional dinner out of the hotel as you can get a chance to explore KIGALI’s night life.

Day 2: KIGALI-NYANZA-BUTARE-NYUNGWE N.P

8:00AM Drive to the South of Rwanda as you get a chance to experience Rwanda’s old tradition since 14th & 15th century when kingdoms emerged.

10:00AM Welcome to the heritage of Rwanda’s tradition and culture in Nyanza. This is the former King’s palace and you go through with an experienced Museum guide who provides every single detail about the palace and all activities that where done in this Kingdom.

11:00AM The day continues as we drive to the former Butare (Huye) where you will have lunch and visiting the NATIONAL MUSEUM OF RWANDA later.

12:00PM Lunch at Ibis Hotel

1:00PM Drive to the NATIONAL MUSEUM OF RWANDA and have a chance to still explore the history of Rwanda in details.

2:00PM Drive to the Nyungwe N.P located in the south west of Rwanda and hold about 70% of Rwanda’s catchment water. Optional visit to Murambi memorial on the way

4:30PM Check in at Nyungwe Forest Lodge or Nyungwe Top View Lodge

Dinner and Accommodation at your HOTEL.

Day 3: NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK

4:00AM Have packed breakfast as you start your drive to Cyamudongo Forest to experience the famous primates of Nyungwe N.P. Have your breakfast as you drive to the entrance of the park .

6:00AM Have a briefing from the park guide to be with you and join other group depending on your group size.

10:00AM Drive back to Nyungwe Forest Lodge or Top View Lodge.

11:30AM Go freshen up as you get ready for lunch and you can have an evening walk in the tea plantations around the Lodge. Optional 3:00PM Canopy walk if you’re not exhausted on that day.

Dinner & Accommodation at the Lodge.

Day4: NYUNGWE N.P – KIBUYE

7:00AM Start your drive to the WEST of Rwanda as you still enjoy the beautiful scenic views on your way via path two of the Congo Nile trail.

10:30AM Visit Le Esperance orphanage one of Rwanda’s biggest orphanage and enjoy their story as they have a conversation with you.

1:00PM Arrive in former Kibuye (Karongi) and enjoy lunch at Moriah Hills.

2:00PM Check in at the Hotel and you can relax at the beach, swim.

Day 5: KIBUYE – GISENYI

7:00AM Drive from the west to the north west of Rwanda as you will enjoy more stories of the history of Rwanda as your guide will be providing it all. Stop at the Rock of Ndaba  and see the Ndaba falls with a story from the kid’s about origin of the naming the rock NDABA. These children are there daily as they keep changing due to the structure of education in Rwanda

11:00AM Arrive in the Batwa community as you will get a chance to experience Rwanda’s traditional dances. Batwa have been marginalized in Rwandan society and lived in the forest in the past. They have been welcomed the government and there life has changed. They will share their story with you and their skills of dancing, poetry, singing. NEW DAWN ASSOCIATES (NDA) provides this tour and can only be booked through them.

12:30PM Arrive in Gisenyi as you will be enjoying your lunch on the shores of L.Kivu. Leisure and relaxation later, as you can also have an evening walk around Gisenyi city.

Day 6: GISENYI-MUSANZE -Gorilla Tracking -KIGALI

 

5:00AM Drive from Gisenyi to Kinigi headquarters where the guide for the day and the Gorilla group to be visited will be allocated. Enjoy a cup of Rwandan coffee or tea as you wait and also have a glimpse of Rwanda’s traditional dance from a local based dancing troupe.

Drive to the park entrance with your guide for the day. A group will have 8pax, you will be joined by others if your group size is less. Potters will be ready at the starting point to help you with your bags on the trek for a price of 10USD only. Follow your guide’s orders to make your trek memorable

Depending on how long your trail will be, time for lunch will be determined. Drive back to the hotel, freshen up and check out.

2:30-3:00PM Drive back to Kigali and stop by a craft shop to buy souvenirs. Head to the Kanombe airport.

 

Day 7: KIGALI-BUGESERA-KIGALI

Depending on the time of the flight you can leave earlier or follow the normal schedule.

9:00AM Drive to Bugesera and the drive will take 45minutes

9:45AM Visit Nyamata Genocide Memorial

10:20AM Visit a MAYANGE B PRIMARY SCHOOL

10:50AM Visit MAYANGE Health Center.

11:20AM Visit a local agricultural farmer

12:00PM Lunch at Rwanda Nziza restaurant.

1:10PM Visit a local basket weaving cooperative

2:00PM Lastly visit a reconciliation village, where you meet survivors living together with perpetrators of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. Interact with some community member at the end as we get ready to drive back to Kigali

Note: This tour provides a lot of information about Rwanda’s past history about genocide and the way people lived during the time. Being historical it has a special story to provide for you, but lives have changed and people are leaving in a harmonious way.

3:00-3:30PM Arrive at the airport and check in.

Farewell with your Rwanda guide as you check in at the airport.
