3 DAYS LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK

Lake Mburo National Park is a pearl of a park, expediently located close to the western thoroughfare that links up Kampala to the other parks of western Uganda. Although the park is just 370km2 in size, its topography is speckled and even a short drive is alive with interest and color. You'll pass gallery forest, open savanna and acacia woodland, rock kopjes, seasonal and permanent swamps, and open water, as you search for the wealth of wildlife it supports. This includes species such as impala, Burchell's zebra, and eland that are not found elsewhere in western Uganda.

 

Day 1: To L. Mburo National park Uganda safari
A guide from our company will pick you up from your hotel in Kampala.  To brief you about your tour and drive you to  Lake Mburo National Park with a stop over at Mpambire drum makers to watch drums being made using old methods passed down through generations. We also stop over at the Equator en-route for photographs.  Proceed through the park via the Nshara gate. The afternoon will be for a game drive along the lakeside track, which will enable you see water plants and animals. The Kigambira loop will offer an opportunity of going through the wooded wilderness with scattered thicket-while here look out for, Zebras, Elands, Topis, bushbucks and bush duikers. A variety of vegetative habitats encircle the open water of Lake Mburo. The lake's western side is dominated by a grassy escarpment rising above a shoreline fringed with acacia forest and the closed canopy Rubanga forest. To the north and east, grassy valley floors, made seasonally lush and soggy by rain, drain between undulating hills. These seep through expanses of wetland into the lake. Rock kopjes are found along the eastern margins of the park.


These varied habitats support an impressive variety of wildlife including 68 mammal species. These include some rarities. Lake Mburo is the only park in Uganda to contain impala and the only one in the rift region to host Burchell's zebra and eland. In Uganda, to pi are only found in Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth National Parks. Commoner species include warthog, buffalo, oribi, Defassa waterbuck and reedbuck. Leopard and hyena are also present while hippo and crocodile are found in the lake.
The park also has a very respectable birdlist with around 315 species recorded to date including the shoebill, papyrus yellow warbler, African finfoot, saddle billed stork, brown chested wattled plover, Carruther's cisticola, bora cisticola, great snipe, Abyssinian ground hornbill and white inged warbler. Acacia woodland bird species are especially well
noted while forest species may be found in RUbangatrt Dinner and overnight at
Luxurious Mantana Luxury tented Camp/ Mihingo Lodge/ Arcadia Cottages Or basic Rwonyo Camp.

 Day 2:   A boat Ride on Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast we use the Kazuma track for an early morning game drive which passes in the course of wooded grassland-black-bellied bustards often guard the area. This track takes us to Kazuma hill-in order to feel a real exposure to Lake Mburo National Park. This will enable you see all five lakes within the park and rolling hills. In the afternoon we go for a boat ride on Lake mburo. The lake is rich with a diversity of animal and plant species which are only clearly viewed while on a boat-crocodiles, hippopotami and birds like pelicans, black crake, Heron. The boat cruise takes 2 hours maximum. Dinner and overnight at accommodation of your choice.

 Day 3: A nature walk along the salt Lick
Following breakfast, indulge in a nature walk which will be done to enable you admire nature under the conduct of an armed ranger guide and will be winded up by a walk to the nearby salt lick which will offer you a chance to see at least four different species of animals at any one time as they lick the salty soil.
